Request for funds

As you may know, Jean Oberson originally paid for the development and operation of this site (and we appreciate that). To ensure the long term viability we are request donations to cover the operational costs. CSM membres contributing to the site or administering the club give their time free of charge. We prefer direct donations as opposed to other forms of financing such as advertising.

Each year we look for funds to pay for the web and computing servers (for WRF + GFS calculations and the website). The budget is approx. 1'500 CHF (1350.- €) per year.

We promise to continue to publish the CSM annual accounts on this website. So, we ask you to consider a donation however modest. Each donaton encourages us to further develop the site - we thank you in advance.

Who we are ?

The creator of « soaringmeteo.org », Jean Oberson has decided to stop maintaining that website in 2016. He has started new activities that take 100% of his time, rarely flies these days and thus has little need to manage and further develop this website. Given this situation, 5 motivated pilots joined to create an association to ensure the longevity of this excellent weather forecast website.

And so, the non-profit association « CSM – Club Soaringmeteo » was founded on the 3rd of December 2016, with the aim of managing the weather forecast website « soaringmeteo.org » and to make the data freely available to all free flying pilots. The CSM signed a convention with Jean Oberson on the 9 December 2016, making the website « soaringmeteo.org » available to the association.

Our association is recognized and registered as a non-profit organization at techsoup/stifter-helfen.ch.
